About WhereFUEL

WhereFUEL is a live map of fuel and charging stations. Drivers tell each other where there is fuel right now, where there is a queue and where the station is closed. In countries where fuel prices are published officially, WhereFUEL shows them next to the reports.

How it works

• Station locations come from OpenStreetMap, the map of the world made by volunteers.
• Drivers report what they see at the station: fuel available, a queue, low or no fuel, which grades.
• A report changes the station's status on the map for 24 hours and is listed at the station for 7 days. The more drivers report, the more accurate the map.

Data sources

• Stations and map data: © OpenStreetMap contributors, Open Database License (ODbL).
• Map tiles: OpenFreeMap; in 2D mode, OpenStreetMap and Esri. Place search: Photon (komoot) and OpenStreetMap Nominatim. Routes: OSRM and FOSSGIS Valhalla.
• Country borders: Natural Earth (public domain). Station brands: name-suggestion-index. Logos: Wikimedia Commons.
• Official prices: open data published by government bodies in each country — for example prix-carburants (France, Licence Ouverte 2.0) and MIMIT Osservaprezzi carburanti (Italy, IODL 2.0). The source is named next to the prices.
